The Mocha Molten Rupee Cake

It was dinner time at Lorule Castle. As per usual, considering is enormous size the dinner room looked empty considering what with how few people were using it. The Princess of the Kingdom of course, and her loyal knight. Well, salesman technically, but he had enough of a knightly spirit to be called as such. So she thought anyway, and before long the main meal was over as the servants took out the dishes and brought in the dessert.

The first unusual thing was that Ravio didn't get any dessert. The second unusual thing was, well, her dessert. When the servants left, she paused and blinked quite a few times at her plate, before looking at Ravio. Needless to say, he hardly looked innocent and had a difficult time not smiling.

"Ravio..."

"Yes?"

"Why do I have a Rupee in my plate?"

A black Rupee at that. She appreciated the gesture, but she was the last person in Lorule to need money. And Rupoor were of pretty poor tastes. Still, this didn't seem to hamper Ravio's spirits and he smiled brightly.

"That's not a Rupee, Princess!" he jumped from his seat and went up to her "It's a dessert only I know the secret of. I like to call it..." Dramatic pause before classic Ravio dance "The Rupcake!!"

"A cake... Disguised as a rupee?"

"Precisely! When Mr. Hero was off saving the world, I had hardly anything to do. He was my only customer you see, and the food he kept home had a weird smell. So I tried some new baking techniques and came up with that!"

This reminded him he owed Link an oven. Oh well. Most importantly, this also meant something else.

"...So while I was here, trying to save our dear kingdom and in desperate need of a hero, you were busy baking cakes?"

"H-Heh?" He looked up in shock then proceeded with the panicked iteration of the Ravio dance "N-No! I was also busy doing lots of other things like training with a sword to defend you, er I mean, Lorule when I'd come back!" Not. Now nodding (a lot) apologetically "I-I'm so sorry princess! I'll do you Rupcakes everyday till I get better with a sword."

She shook her head. It wasn't important, she had long forgiven him for this. If there was even something to forgive here. But more importantly--

"But you don't have one for yourself."

"Hum?" he scratched the back of his head "Ah, no, I didn't make one for me, it's just for you."

"Then I suppose you'll just have to eat this one with me."

"W-What? Eat it with you?" Cue another iteration of the panicked Ravio dance "I never could! I mean, that w-wouldn't be correct." Or something. "I made it for you, not for me!"

"Then I am not eating it." she said and pushed the plate to the side "I couldn't bear to eat this while you watch with nothing?"

"B-But, I did it just for you with lo-- Lots of thoughts!" He sighed and seeing as Hilda didn't seem to budge on her resolve, finally gave in and sat down next to her. "But you have to try it first Princess!"

She nodded and took a bit of the cake with her spoon before tasting it-- It was surprisingly delicious and she addressed him a rare smile.

"It's delicious." she said before adding after a pause "... Thank you."

Ravio hesitantly took her hand that was holding the spoon and smiled himself.

"I... Thank you. For smiling."

The End
