The Horse and the Pancake Maker

Once upon a time in a scientific lab, nothing interesting was happening. It was a rainy day in a rainy winter and aside from the rain beating the windows, the only noises that could be heard were those of the Doc working on his latest model of Pancake Maker™. Meanwhile Sertoria was looking through the windows, looking at people walking by with surreal interest. Maybe someday clever and ingenious people would successfully write legends out of this day, but such people were obviously not born yet.

There was nothing interesting outside. Lots of cars going around, people who had been caught by the rain running back home. However, amid all of this, Sertoria caught a most unusual sight: A man riding a horse in the middle of the town. The rain did not seem to bother this man, nor did the weirded out glare directed at him. Furthermore, the horse was pink for some unexplained reasons. Sertoria observed the man for a moment, perplexed.

"Doctor Brown— I mean, Doc." She called him out "I have just seen a man riding a pink horse under the rain."

Upon hearing this, Doc rose and eyebrow and immediately let go of the Pancake Maker™ to go and look through the window. By the time he arrived however, the man and his most peculiar horse were gone both.

"Great Scott!" He exclaimed and turned to Sertoria "Sertoria, are you sure of what you saw."

"Affirmative."

"Do you realize what it means?!"

"No. I have to concede, this sights has left me most perplexed and I can not understand the meaning behind it."

Doc shook his head and smiled brightly.

"It's normal, it's human!" He said-- Hallucinating and seeing weird things was one of the most human things he could think of. Alternatively, coming up with such a poor excuse not to work on the Pancake Maker™ was also extremely human, which made him much happier than it should.

"Am I to understand that this man and the pink horse were typical of humanity?"

"Yes, in a way!" Doc went back to his working desk, opened a book and wrote something in it. Well, he'd have to check her circuitry because hallucinating like this could be dangerous, but this was no less fascinating. "It's true that may be pretty unusual, but I cannot think of anything more human! It's sort of like, dreaming. The idea behind it is the same."

"... Interesting." Maybe she should try buying a horse and dyeing it pink.

And lo, never would Doc ever know she did actually see a man riding a Pink horse.

The End
